MEDICINE STUDENT SUCCESS: FARBOD

Farbod pictured outside the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland

Course: International Foundation Programme, 82% Overall Score

Destination: Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)

‘I am now studying second-year medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, which is according to my professors the hardest year in my five-year journey but thankfully I have been doing well so far. I’m also the educational officer of the Plastic Surgery Society and running for student union presidency next year.

I truly believe that there is only one reason for my success and my courage to try new things and that is all because of the brilliant education provided for me. Having teachers during my time at Abbey always gave me a chance to try new things and apply for various roles at college, and with all those experiences I now have the courage to try new things without having a fear of failure because the college taught me that failure is part of my journey to success.

More importantly, the main reason that now I can study my dream course is because of all your thoughtful advice about my academic pathway which got me where I am right now. The college also advised me to choose Ireland, Dublin is a great and beautiful city with lovely and friendly people.

My first year in university was far more challenging than I expected, but I have settled down in university and found my own suitable study technique. The proud look in my parents’ eyes is all because of the college’s kindness and support.’
